Mike’s 30-year business career includes senior roles in companies with a broad range of products, services and industries. He brings a finance-minded focus to fixing companies and is passionate about preserving value for owners and shareholders who have to make difficult decisions. Mike’s background includes being appointed President of a division of Dover Corporation before the age of 30 (Dover sponsored him for the University of Chicago Booth XP program) and has led, in C-level roles, companies with operations in more than 15 countries.
After successfully leading his first crisis/turnaround (a multi-national foodservice equipment manufacturer) he subsequently sought, and successfully completed, two more turnaround engagements as CEO. Building his reputation for effectiveness, this led to a tour with Alix Partners, where he participated or led some of the most interesting and challenging crisis situations in the world.
Mike then identified a platform company in oil field services, negotiated an LOI and partnered in this acquisition with The Carlyle Group. He subsequently added a “bolt on” acquisition, reaching $280 million/year in revenue and successfully integrated and consolidated their operations into the platform.
Most recently Mike was asked to lead a $110mm industrial service company by their private equity sponsor. They were under water when he joined. He successfully doubled EBITDA in one year and led the sponsor to a very beneficial exit in only 14 months.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and lives with his wife Carole in Plano, TX. He has been very active in deal origination to the private equity community and has extensive experience in structure, post-acquisition integration value optimization and exit. He has served at the Board level in most of the companies he has led, as well as several other Boards of both private and public companies.
He is a Lean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt, a licensed private pilot, holds an Amateur Extra class amateur radio license (KK5WP), is an avid musician (on the Board of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Classic Guitar Society) and has been an invited speaker to a number of industry groups, trade associations and management training events.
