Barrett is a Senior Consultant with Dynamic Results. For over 20 years he has supported leaders and organizations to navigate complex challenges and unlock deep capacities. He is often asked to speak, and has delivered keynotes and presented worldwide, including to hundreds of CEOs and government officials. Barrett brings a unique multi-sectoral and international perspective. He has been on the leadership team or advisory board of 16 companies, NGOs, and foundations. In these roles, he has worked with a variety of sectors, including international trade, consumer goods, renewable energy, government, manufacturing, banking, internet media, and humanitarian aid. He has lived in the USA, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Ecuador, worked in 12 countries, and traveled extensively.
Barrett has co-designed and co-led dozens of leader development programs for over 4500 executives from organizations such as Unilever, Google, Nestlé, Mars, Bosch, Cargill, ADM, the Dutch Government, the City of New York, Banco Itaú, Natura, and Sara Lee. These range from master classes and innovation labs to corporate universities and multi-year executive education programs. He has served as executive coach for leaders on five continents, including at the Regional President and Vice-President levels of Global 1000 companies and at the C-suite for one of the world’s largest NGOs. His executive coaching is based on his award-winning research on the future of leadership and how to lead transformational change.
Barrett has also designed and led strategic visioning, execution, and change processes for US and European companies and institutions. He specializes in complex change initiatives that involve multi-stakeholder alignment or corporate social responsibility. Recent major initiatives include: 1) Co-leading a two-year strategic implementation process for a US division of a $50B German multinational company; 2) Co-leading design of the Creating Shared Value (CSV) strategies for multiple divisions of a FMCG Fortune Global 100 company and a large-scale business-government alliance in the United Arab Emirates.
Barrett’s articles on leadership are used in MBA and executive education programs worldwide, including the Yale MBA and in the United Nations system. His writings have been translated into Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, German and Farsi. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University, and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Barrett lives in Honolulu, Hawaii area with his wife and daughter. He is an avid hiker and enjoys exploring the natural world. Originally from the Green Mountains of Vermont, he holds a deep commitment to helping leaders and organizations better respond to our tough economic, social and environmental challenges, and leave the world a better place.
